Around the County with Quayside – Wholly Gelato

26 April 2024

Gloucestershire offers far more than just financial advice, and as Financial Advisers based in Gloucester, we take pride in highlighting the diverse array of offerings our county boasts.

This event serves as a platform to showcase the region's exceptional food and drink, bringing together individuals who stand to benefit from connecting with one another. Attendees can look forward to engaging in laid-back conversations over a glass of gin or wine, while savouring locally sourced food, drinks, and even artisanal ice cream. By hosting this event, we will forge new connections, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and cultivate opportunities for collaboration and professional advancement.

For the second round we welcomed Will and Emily from Wholly Gelato - A bit about Wholly Gelato:

  • They say farming is in the blood - they have been at it all their lives! In spite of all the associated challenges, the passion to farm, produce great food, to love the land and the countryside, the animals and the seasons, is something that never leaves the family. Jim (Jerry’s dad) came to this tenanted farm on the Elmore Estate from Tetbury in 1970 with a handful of Friesians, from which Jim and Jerry slowly grew and cultivated the now, 180-strong herd we see today – a family of different colours, breeds, sizes and ages, all with their own quirks and foibles. They farm approximately 350 acres with cows grazing freely during the warmer months. They firmly believe that our cows are healthier and happier when grazing outdoors, living just as nature intended.
  • Their award-winning milk and gelato are both produced fresh on the farm, yards away from the parlour where the mixed-breed free-range herd produce their amazing milk
  • Since opening in 2018, they have produced over 200 flavours/variations of artisan Italian-style gelato. Their ethos is natural, local and seasonal, and they love to collaborate with other local small businesses to produce as diverse and creative flavour range as possible, alongside the family favourites.
  • Unlike traditional ice-cream, their gelato contains a higher concentration of milk (over 65% in every scoop) as well as less cream, less air, and no egg, ensuring a clean and smooth texture on the palate.

Here is what Will and Emily had to say about the event:

“It was a genuine pleasure be able to share the origins and ethos of our business in such a friendly, intimate setting, as well as offering a selection of tasters for guests to sample.  As we do not usually have much scope (time/resource) to accept these kind of invitations, it was really pleasing to be able to take on this one, and almost re-remind ourselves of our passion for what we do on a daily basis. The questions from the audience across a wide variety of topics (from farming to flavours) were really insightful and engaging, and we were also able to learn from the experience and expertise of others from different business sectors.”
