June Headline from Quayside

10 August 2026

It's safe to say there's been plenty going on at Quayside over the last couple of months.

A lot of our time has been spent planning two very exciting events for our charity partner, Meningitis Now. As many of you will know, we're taking on a London to Paris tandem bike ride later this year, and alongside that we're busy putting the finishing touches on Quayside's Big Picnic. Between training rides, sponsorship fundraising, event planning and rallying support from local businesses, clients and friends of Quayside, it's certainly been keeping us busy!

Away from the charity events, we've also been delighted to see our new Tetbury office settle in so well. It's been fantastic to welcome both new and existing clients through the doors, and Liam and Piers have been spending plenty of time in the area meeting people and helping clients with their financial planning, pensions, investments and retirement plans.

Growing our presence across Gloucestershire, Tetbury and the Cotswolds while continuing to support causes that mean a lot to us is exactly what Quayside is all about. It's been a busy few months, but seeing the support for both our charity fundraising and our new office has made it more than worthwhile.

Building for the Future: Whether It's a Charity Bike Ride or Your Finances, Starting Early Makes a Difference

Over the last few months, we've spent countless hours planning our London to Paris tandem bike ride, organising Quayside's Big Picnic, and settling into our new Tetbury office. One thing all of these projects have in common? Success doesn't happen overnight.

The same is true when it comes to your finances.

Whether you've just started earning, received a pay rise, or simply want to make better decisions with your money, starting your financial planning journey early can have a huge impact on your future. You don't need a large investment portfolio or extensive financial knowledge to begin—just a willingness to take the first step.

Why Starting Early Matters

One of the biggest advantages young investors have is time. The earlier you begin investing, the more opportunity your money has to benefit from compound growth—where your investment returns can go on to generate returns of their own.

Even small amounts invested regularly can grow significantly over the long term, making time one of the most valuable assets available to any investor.

What Is Investing?

Investing means putting money into assets such as company shares, funds or bonds with the aim of growing your wealth over time. Unlike cash savings, investments can rise and fall in value, but historically they have provided greater growth potential for those investing over the long term.

Three Simple Ways to Get Started

Open a Stocks & Shares ISA
A tax-efficient way to invest towards your future goals.

Invest Regularly
Setting up a monthly contribution can help build good habits and smooth out market fluctuations over time.

Think Long Term
Successful investing isn't about reacting to every market movement—it's about staying focused on your longer-term objectives.

Common Myths

"I need lots of money to invest."
Many investment platforms now allow you to start with relatively small amounts.

"Investing is only for experts."
Professional financial advice can help you develop a strategy suited to your circumstances and goals.

"I'll start later."
Delaying often means missing valuable years of potential growth.

The Takeaway

Just as our fundraising events and office expansion started with a plan and a commitment to take action, building long-term financial security starts with that same first step. The earlier you begin, the more options you give your future self.

Charity News

After raising an incredible £10,000 for The Pied Piper Appeal in 2025, we're proud to be supporting Meningitis Now as our Charity of the Year for 2026.

It's been a busy few months as we've been preparing for two of our biggest fundraising events yet. In September, a brave team of Quayside cyclists will be taking on a London to Paris tandem bike ride, while we're also putting the finishing touches on Quayside's Big Picnic, a family-friendly community event packed with entertainment, food, games and fundraising activities.

We're incredibly grateful for the support we've already received from our clients, professional connections, local businesses and the wider Gloucestershire community. Every donation, raffle prize and message of encouragement helps us get one step closer to making a real difference for Meningitis Now.

If you'd like to support our fundraising efforts, please consider making a donation via our JustGiving page by following the link below:
