This year, Alex Kell swapped spreadsheets for running shoes more than a few times — going the extra mile (or, more accurately, over 100 kilometres) to support the Pied Piper Appeal’s ambitious £10,000 challenge.
Alex took on ten separate 10K runs in a pretty impressive mix of locations, ticking them off everywhere from Gloucester to London, France, Greece, Oman and even the United States. Each run added to the challenge, pushing both physical limits and fundraising efforts along the way.
The international nature of the challenge kept things interesting — from pounding pavements beneath American skyscrapers to soaking up some stunning Mediterranean scenery. Wherever the route, every kilometre helped raise vital funds and awareness for the Gloucestershire-based children’s charity.
The Pied Piper Appeal, which supports sick and disabled children across the region, relies on the creativity and generosity of fundraisers like those taking part in Quayside’s challenges this year. By turning a love of running into a global challenge, Alex made a fantastic contribution towards the £10,000 target — and even roped in a few others along the way. Members of our neighbouring teams at Tayntons Solicitors and TruGreen joined Alex for some of the runs, adding to the team spirit.
Looking back on the challenge, Alex said:
“Every run had its own challenges, but knowing I was supporting the Pied Piper Appeal made every step worth it. The encouragement from friends, family and even strangers around the world has been amazing — thank you to everyone who supported me.”
That thanks is very much echoed by the whole Quayside team, who are incredibly proud of Alex’s achievement.
