2017

Founded in 1992, Pied Piper Appeal is the leading children's charity in Gloucestershire. Their mission is to make a difference to the lives of sick and disabled children in the county. Pied Piper do this by funding medical and practical equipment that enhances care and treatment for children in hospital and in the special schools in Gloucestershire.

Pied Piper also send children with life limiting illnesses and their families on Wish Holidays, support the ever-growing mental health care in Gloucestershire and fund £10,000 worth of nursing training for the pediatric nurses in the County to ensure that the children get the most up to date care possible.

On 27th May 2017, Quayside Wealth Management and Yoga enthusiast, Julia Frearson, set out on a challenge which involved twenty-four hours of paddle boarding from Gloucester Docks to Sharpness Docks and back, making such good time on the way back we had to double back on ourselves more than once! – totaling in excess of 32miles.

The charity fundraiser kicked off in front of the thousands attending the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival earlier this year. The 24 hours consisted of blustering winds, swan attacks, Facebook livestreams at 3 in the morning, a beautiful sunrise, slight exhaustion and above all the feeling of absolute accomplishment once we were on the home straight being welcomed back in to the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival with a deafening round of applause and a ‘guard of honor’ provided by SUP Gloucester.

Quayside Wealth Management raised £2,071.59 for the Pied Piper Appeal with a further £4,273.32 of match funding for the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation

We’d like to say a special thank you to all those who came to support us along the way from The Pied Piper, SUP Gloucester and those friends, family, clients and professional contacts who cycled alongside us and cheered us at the finish, it was very humbling to have so much support.

We look to hold more charity events like this in the future.
