We take great pride in the City we live in and it is important to us to give back to the Charities that are doing fantastic work in our area. In 2018 the Gloucestershire Young Carers would be the Charity we will look to support now and for the foreseeable future.

We challenged ourselves again to another 24-hour paddle board in support of Gloucestershire Young Carers, this time starting in Stourton and attempting to get to Gloucester Docks within 24 hours. With high spirits the team set off and maintained a strong pace whilst in the light. After a tough 12 hours, darkness fell and slowed the paddling but not the team morale. Unfortunately, whilst pulling the board out of the river to walk around a lock, a fin was broken of one of the boards which ended the teams journey. After a fantastic 15 hours and 40 minutes of paddling, Quayside Wealth Management had to stop.

Gloucestershire Young Carers is a dynamic charity constantly growing and developing to meet the ever-changing needs of young carers in the county. Their main aim is to support young carers in reaching their potential, enabling them and their families to access support that minimises the physical and emotional impact of caring, and that promotes health, well-being and resilience.

Young carers are children and young people under the age of 18 who provide regular or ongoing care and/or emotional support to a family member. They may be involved in the care of an adult or child in their family affected by a physical disability and/or mental ill health. They do not limit themselves to just helping people under the age of 18. They also help young adult carers who can be aged up to 24.

Quayside Wealth Management already held one event earlier in 2018 , where we managed to raise £140 for the charity and raised another £751 paddle boarding. We would personally like to thank all who donated that evening. We are proudly looking forward to helping Gloucestershire Young Carers this year.
