Following our continued support for Gloucestershire Young Carers’ we were delighted to hear the Trustees of The St. James's Place Charitable Foundation approved funding for the charity!
Due to the impact of COVID in 2020, GYC made the difficult decision that they would not be able to roll out their respite support programme that we were able to support last year. A grant application for £10,000 funding to support the programme until early 2021 had been applied for but of course would need amending. Due to the changes COVID brought they did continue to provide socially distanced 2 hour ‘wellbeing check in sessions’ with young carers and were also in need of funding to support this programme from October to December so we were very pleased to share the news we could still financially support them with it.
The charity means a lot to us and the Foundation and all of us were very aware of how vitally important support for Young Carers is at the current time so in addition to the original application. We were therefore absolutely delighted to be able to tell them that we are supporting them with a grant of £10,000 now, for general use by GYCP and to fund their ‘well-being check in’ programme.
In addition, the Foundation have pledged a further £10,000 towards the respite support group (as per the original request) for when it can be rolled out in 2021. We will keep you updated on this throughout 2021.
